Train with others in Wellington

Spring & Summer training:

  • Tuesday 6pm indoor trainer (video call from home)
  • Thursday: 5.30 or 6pm Wellington waterfront interval run
  • Saturday 7.30am combinations of run and ride
  • Open water swimming in summer
We do local events (Splash & Dash, Barefoot Tri, Xterra Runs), some bigger adventures, and informal get togethers at other times.

Autumn & Winter training (varies but includes): 
  • Tuesday trainer OR Thursday run
  • Sat trail running + some riding

March - June: Autumn run focus

  • Adventures in the hills with run focussed training for local Xterra events, and other longer trail events
  • Smaller time on swimming and biking
June - August: Early-season base training
  • Smaller volumes through the colder / shorter winter months
  • Indoor trainer, strength work, and building routines

September - December: Half Ironman training

  • Building volume and intensity for Nov / Dec events
  • Balanced and progressive swim bike run training 

January - March: Ironman and Half IM training

  • Building further for summer Half & Ironman events




Detailed training plans & workouts

Flexible training plans to suit your goals: 

Wellington Squad training plans are revised every year. There are separate plans for each major event we do (e.g. Half & Ironman, plus other winter focussed events), with options to suits those who have more or less training time, and those who are newer to the sport vs experienced.

Every plan includes: Specific daily workouts that can be done by heart rate, cycling power, running pace, or perceived effort

(Note these are squad-wide training plans that you can choose between and adjust to suit your availability - they are not individually written for each member of the team).




Coach & team support

We run a private Facebook Group so everyone can stay connected. Support is available via:

  • Asking questions in our Facebook Group
  • Monthly team video calls
  • Our library of team resources (articles, videos, podcasts)
  • Individual coach consultations (additional fee)




Training camps

You get to train and recover like a pro, while our support team takes care of the meals and logistics. All abilities are welcome, with training options to suit everyone.

  • Winter run camp: Jun for trail running & mountain bike adventures
  • Spring cycling camp: Oct Labour Weekend in Hawkes Bay for a big cycling boost, plus swimming and running too
  • Summer Ironman and 70.3 camp: Late Jan in Taupo for Ironman and 70.3 specific preparations
