Train with others in Wellington

Year round regular training sessions:

  • Tuesday: 6pm indoor trainer (video call from home)
  • Thursday: 5.30 or 6pm Wellington waterfront interval run
  • Saturday: 7.30am or 8am combinations of run and ride
  • Sunday: Open water swimming in summer
We do local events, some bigger adventures and training camps, and you make friends for life. Train with others to achieve more than on your own.




Our training changes through the year

March - May: Trail run adventures in the hills + running speed work. Smaller focus on swim and bike

June - August: Cycling intensity focus for pre-season gains. Overall smaller volumes through the colder / shorter winter months

September - October: Building training volume with balanced and progressive swim bike run training

November - December: Hills hills hill for Suffer + stronger base for other events

January - March: Building further for summer Half & Ironman events




Detailed training plans & workouts

Flexible training plans to suit your goals: 

Wellington Squad training plans are revised every year. There are separate plans for each major training block and event.

There are options to suit those who have more or less training time, and those who are newer to the sport vs experienced.

Every plan includes: Specific daily workouts that can be done by heart rate, cycling power, running pace, or perceived effort

(Note these are squad-wide training plans that you can choose between and adjust to suit your availability - they are not individually written for each member of the team).




Coach & team support

We run a private Facebook Group so everyone can stay connected. Through this group you can:

  • Post questions to coach Gerrard and the rest of the team
  • Join our monthly team video calls
  • Access our library of resources (articles, videos, podcasts)
  • Book coach consultations (additional fee) for extra support




Training camps

You get to train and recover like a pro, while our support team takes care of the meals and logistics. All abilities are welcome, with training options to suit everyone.

  • Winter run camp: Jun for trail running & mountain bike adventures
  • Spring cycling camp: Oct Labour Weekend in Hawkes Bay for a big cycling boost, plus swimming and running too
  • Summer Ironman and 70.3 camp: Late Jan in Taupo for Ironman and 70.3 specific preparations
